Here are a few quick photos of the opening evening dance at the start of the Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week held at Chicot State Park. Balfa Toujours was on stage inside a large tent with a sturdy wooden dance floor. That's Todd Balfa in the photo below dancing while the band played "Les Tracas de Todd Balfa." Amelia Rose Powell performed a dance while her father and Kevin Wimmer played twin fiddles and Tante Nelda played the triangle. Many other musicians sat in with the band, including Blake Miller on accordion and his father, Bruno, on guitar, Todd Ortego on rubboard, and Jimmy Breaux on accordion (and on drums with Balfa Toujours for most of the evening). Kevin Wimmer got out his zydeco accordion later in the evening.
